We began designing journeys in Africa in the mid 1990s. A wildlife safari is a phenomenal experience. An excellent safari requires some flexibility. Wildlife moves, conditions change, and events on safari are unpredictable, as they are not orchestrated, but depend mainly on positioning ourselves well for an opportunity to arise and so experience something amazing.
Many luxury camps and lodges provide wonderful accommodations, and their clients invariably leave delighted with what they have seen. However, unless they have travelled on different safaris with various operators, they are unlikely to know the difference between one service and another.
We assure you that there is a huge difference in these details when designing a safari.
On our Classic Guiding Style safaris,  our guests have a different camp-based guide in each area they visit. Small groups or couples often prefer this service to our Premium Guiding Style because of the added cost of being accompanied by one of our A Step Ahead guides is high in these cases.
However both our Classic and Premium Style safaris include a private vehicle and your own guide, so that a considerable amount of customisation is always possible.
Interestingly even in many of the most exclusive and luxurious camps and lodges it is not uncommon for many guests to share activities and vehicles with others. This can be wonderful if you have similar needs and interests when game driving or on bush walks, but it allows for very limited customisation if your interests and those of other guests do not converge.
More information on the difference between our Premium guiding style journey and other journeys are described here.
