Accommodation

We know every traveler is unique. This section helps us design your personalized journey by exploring accommodation options that balance your comfort and sense of adventure.

To facilitate this we have simplified the accommodations we offer into three broad groups –Luxury, Boutique and Adventurous.

Many of our journeys combine these different types of accommodations, ensuring that you are comfortable while also providing variety.

Luxury

These are the best accommodations available in any area. The best camps and lodges in Africa have a similar standard to the most luxurious establishments in Spain and Portugal. Most have wellness centers, and exquisite cuisine and fine wines are to be expected here.

Boutique

These are generally small places with lots of character, and either a high standard of comfort, a lot of personal attention, or both. The various types of boutique accommodations are permanent tented camps, seasonal tented camps in the Serengeti (which usually move 2 or 3 times a year following the great migration), seasonal bush camps in more remote areas, and bed & breakfast intimate or family run establishments in villages and towns in Europe.

Adventurous

There are three types of adventurous camps –lightweight safari camps for stays of several nights, fly camps for one overnight experience, and mountain camps carried by porters such as on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Adventurous camps usually have separate shower and loo tents, with a dry flush loo. There is no wifi, no pool, no fan or air conditioning. There are no other guests.

The only drinks available in mountain camps may be fresh drinking water and hot beverages. In the other adventurous camps envisage dining under the stars, ice with your cocktails, and enjoying the limited selection of beverages, local beers, spirits, and South African wines.
